East Passyunk Revitalization In Full Effect
East Passyunk – Recently, the Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation (PARC) announced that they would resume the neighborhood sidewalk cleaning program and awarded a contract to ABM Janitorial Services. ABM will be responsible for managing the cleaning crews, hiring all personnel and running the day-to-day operation of the cleaning services. Working in conjunction with the East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District, the focus will be on East Passyunk Avenue, from Federal Street to Broad Street, the location of the majority of the real estate that PARC owns and leases for commercial and residential uses. This commercial corridor will be cleaned six days a week, twice daily The surrounding residential area, bounded by Ninth Street (east), Snyder Avenue (south), South Broad Street (west), and Federal Street (north), will be cleaned two times a week.
PARC also announced a Greening Initiative for East Passyunk Avenue and its surroundings. 17 trees will be planted with the epicenter being the fountain located at East Passyunk Avenue and Tasker Street. PARC also will fund match up to $2,500 for $2,500 each for the four surrounding community groups and civic associations who are raising funds for green efforts. The found adjacent community groups are the Passyunk Square Civic Association, East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District, Lower Moyamensing Civic Association and the East Passyunk Crossing Civic Association.
Finally, PARC is putting the finishing touches on their renovation of 1737 East Passyunk Avenue. The property is a mixed use property with two apartments above and tenants begin occupying the property on April 1, 2012.
