Bud Light Promises Free Beer for All of Philly If Eagles Win. Maybe.

Yup, it’s another Eagles post. Brace yourselves, y’all. This is what the next twelve days are gonna look like.

Anheuser-Busch, the manufacturers of Bud Light, may or may not have promised the entire City of Brotherly Love free beer if the Eagles manage to pull off a Super Bowl win. Rowdy members of the “Iggles” Nation, intoxicated on excitement and very likely some of Anheuser-Busch’s products, took to the streets Sunday to set the streets ablaze with joy over the fact that their beloved team is headed to Minnesota to square off against the formidable New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII.

Lane Johnson, an offensive lineman for the Eagles, started all the free beer buzz way back at the start of the season, in fall 2017 when he, during a press conference, said: “I have a lot to prove to this city … I think if we have a few big years and make the playoffs, if we win a Super Bowl, I’m giving out beer to everybody.”

At the time, it seemed like a long shot that Philadelphia would bring home the NFC championship trophy. It’s been a very good season, however, and the Eagles clinched their spot at the big game by utterly destroying the Vikings at Lincoln Financial Field two days ago. They pretty much ran roughshod over Minnesota, backed up, and ran them over again.

Now, Bud Light has teased the city with a maybe-serious, maybe-not tweet that has the newslines all alight. Back when Johnson made his bet, Bud Light said: “.@LaneJohnson65 Let’s make a bet. Win it all and the party is on us. Deal?” And now that things have come to fruition, Johnson tweeted at the beer company, #neverforget. Bud’s response? “Oh, believe us. We haven’t forgotten,” marked with a winking emoji.

WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN? WILL EAGLES FANS GET FREE BUD LIGHT IF THE TEAM TAKES DOWN THE PATRIOTS? WILL THE SUDS ERUPT FROM FOUNTAINS LIKE A ROMAN BACCHANALIA? WHY AM I TYPING THIS ALL IN CAPS?

It’s going to be a long two weeks, y’all.
