There’s a new hotel in Center City, located in a historic bank building in the 100 block of North Broad Street. Aloft Philadelphia Downtown is the Aloft chain’s second Philadelphia location, with the other being situated near the airport. The Downtown location, however, enjoys the untarnished charm of a vintage 1920s building with plenty of character. The building has been vacant for over twenty years, only narrowly missing the wrecking ball when the Convention Center expanded a few years ago. Now, as of August 31st, the Liberty Title & Trust Building has a new life as a gorgeous hotel with what Evan Evans, General Manager, calls “the most dramatic arrival experience in the city of Philadelphia.”
Visitors come up beautiful marble stairs to the vast open space of the lobby, which features crown molding and a ceiling thirty feet high. Many of Aloft’s structural elements are original from the Jazz Age, and when paired with stylish new lighting and furnishings, the overall impression is an eclectic one that feels quite luxurious. The original bank vault is now part of the hotel’s gym, and has been designated as a stretching room. Upstairs, there are 179 guest rooms, each of which is individually decorated for a distinct look. According to HotelManagement.com, “The hotel also includes large-scale windows and 9-foot loft-style ceilings. Guestrooms include platform beds, free Wi-Fi, 42 inch LCD TVs, coffee, custom bath amenities by Bliss Spa, walk-in showers and more.” The hotel features a bar with a few menu and signature cocktails, and an outdoor terrace with comfortable seating options, a firepit, outdoor bar, music and ambient lighting.
Aloft’s address positions it as a Center City hotspot, just one mile away from City Hall and within walking distance of Reading Terminal Market, Independence Hall, Philadelphia’s Museum Parkway and the LOVE statue.
One other great feature of Aloft Downtown: pets are allowed. So bring your pup or kitty along with you when you come to stay at this fantastic new hotel!
