Calling all inventors, innovators, and entrepreneurs: the ever-popular reality show “Shark Tank” is coming to Philadelphia, and they want YOU to come out and show off your best ideas. If you’ve never watched the show, the premise is simple. Normal people like you or me bring their innovative ideas or products in front of a judging panels of “sharks,” or wealthy investors. The inventors get the chance to pitch their products to the sharks and answer questions volleyed at them. Some of the ideas are great; some are terrible. Ultimately, the sharks have the opportunity to make the inventors’ dreams come true by investing in the inventor’s company in return for a partial share in the profits. Some investors go home empty-handed, others spark bidding wars between interested sharks.

The hunt for “Shark Tank” fodder for Season 9 of the hit TV show will come to Xfinity Live, 1100 Pattison Ave. near the stadium complexes in South Philadelphia on June 28th. According to the Philadelphia Tribune, “Numbered wristbands will be distributed from 9 to 11 a.m., and interviews begin at 10 a.m. Potential contestants will be given an opportunity to do a one-minute pitch to a casting team member — exactly as if they were pitching their proposal to the sharks on the show.” Before auditioning, interested parties need to download the application packet at http://abc.go.com/show/shark-tank/open-call.

Not only will the full roster of returning sharks be on board for Season 9: Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John and Kevin O’Leary, but several guest sharks will be fishing for great ideas. According to the Tribune: “The guests will include Sara Blakely, founder and sole owner of Spanx; Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin Group; Bethenny Frankel, founder and CEO of Skinnygirl; Rohan Oza, who developed Vitaminwater, Smartwater and Bai; and former baseball great Alex Rodriguez, CEO of AROD Corp.”

Time to fire up that thinking cap and prepare your pitches! Big money could be waiting for you.
