Tonight’s event kickoff will feature entertainment by Today’s 96.5, which will be located at the library. The theme for food this week is bar eats, so expect cheese plates, nachos, pretzels, and more of the like. While drinks and food will be for sale, entry to the event is free and there is no RSVP or pre-registration required to attend. Due to the alcoholic beverages, all guests must be aged 21 or older, however. Those who attend will be given Lyft promo codes for an inexpensive, safe way to get home after an evening of imbibing.

The Sky-Line Beer Garden is not the only special event coming up at the Free Library, however. In conjunction with the Raven Society, a young professionals group, the Library will host an author’s special event with Dogfish Head founder Sam Calagione and beer historian Patrick E. McGovern. This will take place on June 6th at 6 in the evening at the Raven Society Rooftop Biergarten. The event is meant to celebrate the release of McGovern’s new book, Ancient Brews: Rediscovered and Re-created.

Calagione and McGovern have collaborated on several Dogfish Head brews before, most of which celebrate beermaking of the past. The best known of these products was the Midas Touch brew, which the Philadelphia Inquirer says was “a recreation of a brew found in 2,700-year-old drinking vessels in King Midas’ tomb.” Tickets to the author’s event range from $35 to $125 and include access to an open bar, snacks, and live music.
