Get your sneakers ready, Philadelphia. National Running Day is right around the corner – tomorrow, June 3rd. I always love a good excuse to run. Not only is it great exercise, but it’s a lot of fun as well. As runners from sea to shining sea are taking off, the city will be celebrating the day with an exciting spate of events. Whether you are an experienced runner or are just now making a commitment to exercise and fitness, you’re sure to find an event that gets you excited!

At 6:25 AM tomorrow you can double-celebrate both National Running Day and Philly Beer Week with November Project’s second annual Shoes and Brews event. They’ll be running through an intense workout on the steps of the Art Museum. If you bring a pair of used running shoes to donate you will be given your choice of a beer from Jon Lyons of Southern Tier or from Two Roads. Under 21? They’ll have root beer on hand as well.

Also on Wednesday: the Back on My Feet nonprofit group will host a run at 5:30 AM. This is their normal weekly run, but this week they will be chalking the streets with #bomf to help bring awareness to their cause. You can chalk your team’s name on the streets or simply come along for the run!

The Philadelphia Runner store will be running three miles from their Manayunk location and from their University Street store to the closest Rita’s for a free water ice. Now that’s a sweet way to celebrate running! Get out there and get healthy, Philadelphia!
