1.) Tired of playing at the parking wars? There’s a way to reserve your spot on the street – but it will cost you. Owners of electric cars can apply for their own reserved parking space in front of their home, complete with charging station. You will have to pay $50 for a non-refundable application fee and $500 for the signage and meter to be installed. One report says that the cost actually runs closer to $3,000 – due to the costs of running power out to the meter – but that the state of Pennsylvania is giving rebates to the first 500 residents to participate in the program.
2.) The Philadelphia 76ers will unveil their new logo today. As the old logo is dated and impossibly ugly, this can only be an improvement. Sports commentators have acerbically questioned whether the logo change has the power to make the team play better. It has been stated that the color scheme of red and blue will stay the same. The team will eventually get new uniforms to reflect the new logo, but that won’t be happen until some time between the lottery and draft.
3.) The Three Cities food truck festival went off without a hitch. Local food trucks won the day with awards, beating out other food trucks from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore. Local vendors Sum Pig, The Cow and the Curd, Calle Del Sabor and Bonjour Creperie all took awards. Sum Pig took first place while The Cow and the Curd took both second place and the People’s Choice award.
