Have you ever wanted to take part in the breaking of a world record? Come on out May 9th to the World’s Largest Bar Crawl, taking place across Philadelphia. The Crawl is an all-day event that starts at 12 noon in several neighborhoods across the city. If you recall, Philadelphia gunned for the world record last year. In 2014, around 5,000 participants came out to drink and have a great time. This year, organizers are hoping to double that crowd. That means 10,000 revelers are expected to turn out and drink their way through Philly.
More than just the chance to break a record, the Crawl offers the opportunity to sample signature cocktails at over fifty venues across the city. Neighborhood watering holes in Avenue of the Arts, Center City, Delaware River Waterfront, Fairmount/Art Museum, Logan Square, Midtown Village, Northern Liberties, Old City, Queen Village, Rittenhouse Square, South Philly, South Street, Sports Complex Area and University City will be taking part.
The event is being sponsored in conjunction by Philly2Night.com and UpcomingEvents.com, two of the city’s online entertainment and event sources. Vice president of Philly2Night.com Ray Sheehan says that part of the proceeds from the Crawl will benefit two local charities: The Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #5 and The Barkann Family Healing Hearts Foundation.
Sheehan says that trying to organize the world’s biggest bar crawl is enough of a task, but doing it in order to break a Guinness record makes things that much harder, as there are certain requirements to be fulfilled. For example, each participant in the crawl must consume at least 5 ounces of a beverage at each location for their entry to count.
