Few celebs have the real estate game on lock like Ellen DeGeneres. The talk show star, comedian, and Oscar hostess is a veritable whirlwind of buying and selling, and it can be hard to keep up with her property adventures.
Ellen started the year off in style by dropping $40 million on the gorgeous, historic Brody House. Situated in lovely Holmby Hills, Los Angeles – right next door to the Playboy Mansion – the fully-renovated 1949 manor has been called one of the best houses in LA. She didn’t keep it for long, though – Sean Parker of Napster fame made her a $55 million offer she couldn’t refuse, so DeGeneres flipped the home in July.
In the interim, Ellen scooped up a pair of condos in the Beverly West tower. She’s put those up for sale again as well. The units are full-floor, constituting the south and north faces of the building. The former is a two bedroom, three bathroom unit priced at $8.495 million, and the latter, with two bedrooms and 2.5 baths, is priced at $7.495 million. There’s about 8,000 square feet of living space between the two.
The latest news? DeGeneres just bought a two parcel compound… that she sold back in 2007. To clarify, she’s re-buying the place she sold from the person to whom she sold it. Talk about a badass! Ellen and her wife, Portia de Rossi, picked up a gorgeous midcentury modern home with adjacent parcel for $10 million. The home, a post-and-beam beauty, was built in 1956. It boasts four bedrooms and four baths, a pool, two fireplaces, and every possible update and convenience. The couple bought the home back from Alexandra Hedison, wife of Jodie Foster, who did a complete reno on the place after she bought it from Ellen in 2007.
