I’ve said it before, but celebrities are really just like us when it comes to real estate. When faced with a home that just won’t sell, they take the same tactic as us commoners – chop, chop, chop the price. Of course, the price cuts are quite a bit more dramatic!
Just take mega-watt couple Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick. The pair have been trying to unload their ultra-hip Greenwich Village townhome since autumn 2012, but it doesn’t seem to be moving. They recently elected to shave a bit off the asking price… only, in this case, the discount is a hefty $2.05 million!
The Manhattan nest sports four floors, and is twenty-five feet wide. It’s in a beautiful historic building, in a location that anyone would envy (right off Fifth Avenue). It sports six bedrooms and as many baths, plus seven fireplaces over 6,800 square feet. There’s a Juliet balcony overlooking the manicured garden, skylights, and some immense built-in bookcases – and that’s just to start. You enter into a double parlor with 12.5-foot ceilings, and can walk straight through the gourmet kitchen to the tiered garden. The master suite occupies the entire fourth floor, and boasts multiple walk-in closets and a private terrace.
Broderick and Parker bought the home in 2011 for $18.995 million. They turned around and listed it in September 2012 for $22 million, and have since dropped the price to $19.95 million. The pair have, if you believe the gossip, been on the hunt for the ideal NYC pad for some time. Evidently the Greenwich Village abode didn’t quite fit the bill.
