This is Your Chance to Attain Sandwich Immortality!

Are you a closet epicure just yearning for your chance to shine? Are you really passionate (we’re talking Dagwood levels of enthusiasm) about sandwiches? The cheesesteak might be Philly’s quintessential sandwich today, but its reign might soon be challenged. Philadelphia takes its sammies seriously, and this is your opportunity to ink a chapter in the annals of local legend.

Shank’s at Pier 40, a 50-year-old Philly institution, is holding a contest on its Facebook page. Between now and the 30th, fans can post their own sandwich concoctions for a chance to have their creation immortalized on the Shank’s menu! The winner will join current classics like Shank’s roast pork, chicken cutlet, and italiano hoagies.

The consolation prizes aren’t half-bad, either. The first three runners-up will score Shank’s gift cards worth $100, $50, and $25. You won’t get the winner’s bragging rights, but you can sure drown your sorrows in Coke and cajun fries.

What kind of sandwich gets your motor running? A crusty, meaty, squished Scooter? Something a little more heart-healthy? (Boooooring!) How about something showcasing the very best part of any Philly cheesesteak – the Velveeta?

Current entries on Shank’s Facebook include both totally new concoctions (steak and Andouille sausage, a fried eggplant sub with broccoli rabe) and spins on current faves, like a spicy chicken cutlet italiano.
