Harry Potter Festival and Pub Crawl This Weekend!

Transform yourself into a fictional, magical world at The Harry Potter Festival that will be taking place this weekend in Chestnut Hill. It will be an enchanting weekend of wizards, costumes, scavenger hunts, parades and more! The entire town participates and makes you feel like you are teleported into another dimension.

Friday, October 18

Opening ceremonies begin on Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. at the Top of the Hill Fountain Plaza led by Dumbledore with a Quidditch team pep rally, a “thestral” from Northwestern Stables, and characters from the Harry Potter books. There will be a  neighborhood-wide costume party so pick your favorite character and join in on the magic! The Harry Potter Pub Crawl will be from 7-9 p.m.,and you will be able to hop around from bar to bar along Germantown Avenue. All of the participating bars and restaurants will be open for regular business where you can enjoy a Magic Hat #9 or a butterbeer!

Saturday, October 19

There will be a straw maze at The Woodmere Art Museum where  kids can make Cloaks of Invisibility and Marauder Maps that they can bring home with them. The 4th annual Quidditch Tournament will begin at 11am on the fields of Chestnut Hill College. Participating teams are from Chestnut Hill College, Lafayette College, Shippensburg University, Kutztown University, the Philadelphia Honey Badgers (formerly the Del Val Dragons), Penn State University, New Jersey Nargles, and Franklin and Marshall College. The best team plays for the Cup in the final tournament. Also on site will be the Horcrux scavenger hunt from 11-4pm, Defense Against the Dark Arts classes at the Stagecrafters Theater from 12-3, sorting hat demonstrations, fortune tellers, and plenty of food and drinks!
