Halloween Spooks, Thrills and Bar Crawls!
With Halloween around the corner, there’s plenty to do all over the city! There are 4 events coming up for people of all ages, (even dogs) that shouldn’t be missed!
- Tomorrow night the Ethical Society of Philadelphia (1906 Rittenhouse Sq.) will be hosting a Terror Film Festival lasting 3 days, that will be screening over 28 short films and feature length horror and science fiction thriller films. Each day of the fest filmmakers will be present to meet and greet guests and discuss their projects. The end of the film fest will wrap up with an award ceremony giving out Claw Awards to Best Feature Film and so on. Complimentary refreshments and snacks will be on hand at all screenings, and prizes will be given out. Tickets are $35 for a 3 day pass or $5 for individual screenings. Anyone has a headshot or a student ID doesn’t need a ticket!
- On Saturday, October 26, there is an autumn inspired/Halloween themed festival for tons of fall fun from 11-4pm. There will tons of activities for children, adults and dogs too on East Passyunk Avenue. Spooky Saturday also welcomes trick-or-treating all along the avenue, pumpkin painting, apple cider, costume contests, and a kid’s dance party. The kid’s costume contest begins at 11 a.m. and the dog’s costume contest begins at 12:30 p.m., both located at the Singing Fountain. A bunch of Passyunk avenue’s restaurants will be giving out some small bites and drinks for festival-goers. Everything from season cocktails to cupcakes will be available for purchase. There is no fee for the festival, just wear your best costume!
- The Philadelphia Zoo will be hosting 2 weekends in a row for its annual Boo at The Zoo event on October 19-20, and October 26-27. Halloween costumes are welcome, especially those that mimic the animals at the zoo! While visiting the animals, kids can trick- or- treat, see live performances by Fisher Price, or even join a scavenger hunt. There will even be a spooky cemetery and haunted house to see too! The Boo at the Zoo festivities are included in the price of a general admission zoo ticket.
- The Witch Craft Beer Crawl is the 4th annual beer-lover crawl, taking place on Wednesday, October 23rd. East Passyunk Avenue bar participants will stamp your witch craft stamp card at every stop you make! $6.66 gets you a witch hat, and $3 craft beers with the chance to win some great prizes, including a $350 gift certificate and concert tickets.You must register at Garage between 5:30-7:00, and then bring your stamped card to Adobe by 9:30 pm . Participants are encouraged to dress up to liven the Halloween spirit and have the chance at winning bar and restaurants gift cards for best witch!
