Art Musuem “Van Gogh Up Close” Praised By Wall Street Journal

Art Museum Real Estate

Beginning tomorrow, The Philadelphia Museum Of Art opens it’s doors to the latest major exhibit entitled “Van Gogh Up Close”.  The exhibit contains 40 pieces painted by the Dutch post-Impressionist painter best known for cutting his own ear off.  Dan Neil, writer for The Wall Street Journal, wrote a piece highly laudatory of both the painter, and the paintings.

Vincent Van Gogh was a handful: almost certainly a victim of epilepsy, perhaps an alcoholic, maybe mad from the leaded paint he worked with, but in any case a raving, God-haunted lunatic most of the time and nobody’s favorite neighbor.  Vincent Van Gogh had his problems, that’s for sure. But fortunately for him, and us, the Dutch painter was able to self-medicate. And the Philadelphia Museum’s current retrospective of his work in nature unveils his particular skills at bringing landscapes to life.

The Van Gogh Up Close exhibit takes place from February 1st through May 6th at the Philadelphia Museum of Art on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.  Tickets are $25 for adults, $23 for seniors, ages 13-18  are $20, agest 4-12 are $12, kids under 4 are free.
