Nordstrom Rack Coming to Center City Philadelphia Next Fall!
Brace yourselves center city shoppers! Nordstrom Rack has announced it will be opening a brand new 39,000-square-foot store next fall on the corner of 17th and Market Streets, where Daffy’s was housed for many, many years. The closest Nordstrom Rack is about 30 minutes away from Center City, so having a premiere shopping destination for designer goods at our fingertips will be amazing.
Nordstrom Rack is nearly a century old, so the stunning renovations that are about to take place in this massive 80,000 square foot building will be really exciting to see. Shoppers will get to indulge in 3 stories of fabulous, discounted finds, connected by a brand new open staircase that will marry all 3 floors. The fourth floor will just be storage and offices for now.
There is a 10-year lease signed with Nordstrom Rack, which is expected to generate more than $20 million in rent. Nordstrom Rack acquired the building through the Daffy’s bankruptcy, but has been interested in the spot for years. Currently there are 132 stores across the U.S., with plans of 100 more opening by 2016.
It’s about time this city gets a new upscale retail store!
