Schuylkill Soiree at Schuylkill Banks This Saturday

The Friends of the Schuylkill Banks are hosting a Fall BBQ complete with live music, food, drink and games this Saturday, September 15th.  Proceeds will benefit the Schuylkill Banks:

Join the Friends of Schuylkill Banks (FOSB) for the Schuylkill Soiree! With the river on one side and the city skyline on the other, there really is no better place to take in all the Banks has to offer. Enjoy tons of local food and drinks, including The Dapper Dog, Pitruco, Penns Woods Winery, Victory Brewing Company, Little Baby’s Ice Cream and Pure Sweets. We’ll also have plenty of Magners Irish Cider and non-alcoholic beverages. Live music from “Delco Nightingale” will keep our toes tapping and bodies swinging. As always, we will have lawn games and other activities to add to the FOSB experience.  Proceeds from this event will improve general maintenance and operations at the Schuylkill Banks, one of Philadelphia’s greenest treasures.  While the fundraiser name has changed, it’s still the same great casual outdoor vibe that you have come to love during FOSB events. We’ll have a few tables, but you’re welcome to bring your own picnic blankets and chairs if you would like to really kick back and relax.

About Friends of the Schuylkill Banks

Friends of Schuylkill Banks (FOSB) was founded in 2010 to provide financial and volunteer support for the Schuylkill River Development Corporation (SRDC) in their mission to revitalize the tidal Schuylkill River from the Fairmount Dam to the Delaware River. FOSB focuses on grassroots fundraising efforts that engage current and future users of the Banks as friends, leveraging individual contributions to help SRDC improve maintenance, increase programming, and focus on capital project fundraising and implementation.  Schuylkill Banks plays a vital role in Philadelphia’s park system, the larger regional trail network, and the planned East Coast Greenway connecting Maine to Key West. The first segment, which opened in 2004, brought Fairmount Park’s River Drives to the heart of Center City. In 2011, the Grays Ferry Crescent opened between 34th Street and Wharton Street, bringing waterfront access to many South and West Philadelphia neighborhoods for the first time. By 2012, several additional segments and improvement projects will be operational, creating further linkages to communities on both sides of the river, increasing residents’ access to open space, and creating more opportunities for active transportation and commuting.
