One Divan Closes And Another Opens
Divan Turkish Kitchen, formerly located on the corner of 22nd and Christian in Graduate Hospital, recently closed and SoWe, a new bistro, took it’s place. Former owner of Divan, Ilkur Ugur, apparently now has his hands full with a property he owns at 2132 Montrose Street and his attempts to create a restaurant that is intertwined with the adjacent Julian Abele Park. Ugur hopes to transform the property to mixed use, and then lease commercial space to a restaurant for that would have park-side dining…but I digress. As I was driving around on 6th Street in Bella Vista today I noticed a new restaurant had opened in the space that was formerly home to Shouk named Divan Turkish Grill – which apparently is completely unrelated to Divan Turkish Kitchen. We can only hope that in addition to the restaurant’s name the new Divan borrowed a few of the old Divan’s recipes – the manti in particular.
