Last week, Deputy Mayor for Environmental and Community Resources Michael DiBerardinis and other city officials opened The Pavilion at Franklin Square. The Pavilion, a 36′ x 36 building, will host functions, be available for public use, and serve as a venue for performances. The grand opening of The Pavilion was celebrated by hosting its first event – Jason McKenzie’s 3rd birthday party. The building was funded by the William Penn Foundation and cost $400k to build. The new and improved Franklin Square also features SquareBurger, a Stephen Starr-run “burger shack” that sells hot dogs, fries, milkshakes, hamburgers and cheeseburgers!
UPDATE: SquareBurger is open for its fourth season in Franklin Square, operated by Starr Restaurants in partnership with Historic Philadelphia, Inc. SquareBurger’s delicious menu featuring burgers, hot dogs, french fries, and delectable frozen treats such as the signature Cake Shake with Tastykake Butterscotch Krimpet©! April’s Shake-of-the-Month is Orange Creamsicle. SquareBurger and Stephen Starr Events are now the preferred caterers at the brand new The Pavilion in Franklin Square which is available for the space is a fun new option for parties, corporate events, and meetings year-round.
