Philadelphia Developer Attempting To Buy Daily News.

Center City – Multiple sources are reporting that famed Northern Liberties developer Bart Blatstein and a group of investors are prepared to make a cash offer for Philadelphia Media Network, the company that owns the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News.  Blatstein came into the public focus through his real estate development in Northern Liberties ( The Piazza) and projects on Delaware Avenue.  The investment team includes developer, Jerry Sweeney of Brandywine Realty Trust , Bill Hankowsky of Liberty Property Trust , Bill Harvey of Klehr Harrison Harvey Branzburg LLP, Harold Honickmanan of the Honickman Group of Companies, Andrew Barroway an attorney, and another group that includes former Gov. Ed Rendell. This move comes on the heels of Blatstein’s purchase of Philadelphia Media Network’s headquarters at 400 N. Broad Street for over 26 million in 2010.
