Northern Liberties – The Stable Flats, a project in hibernation in Northern Liberties, appears to be moving forward once again. The Stable Flats was intended to be a landmark “net-zero energy” green building. The Onion Flats is partnering with Domani Developers to make this project happen. Here’s a little bit more from the developer:
Designed to be first LEED-H Platinum multi-family certified project of its kind in the United States. Stable Flats is a 70 unit residential project located in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of Philadelphia. It is intended to be a model of sustainable, residential and community urban re-development. It incorporates new and creative approaches to open/community space with a 12,000 square foot community garden, storm water management, geothermal heating/cooling, green roof technology, on-site renewable energy generation, steel and concrete modular construction, creative parking management and 31% dedicated Affordable Housing units.
The project will include a total of 27 total homes, down from the initially planned 70, on the site which formerly housed the 76 Carriage Company horse stables on George Street. The first homes will be delivered in May of 2012.
