Elite LEED Nightclub GREENHOUSE Coming to Philadelphia!
Our on the street informant Deep Pockets checked in today with some really exciting news. Elite Manhattan and Miami based club GREENHOUSE will soon be opening in Washington Square at 725 Chestnut Street right next door to Morimoto. The club will have two floors – first floor and basement – and will play host to all of the hottest A list celebrities and dj’s. I’m not allowed to name names but I was told to expect an Entourage like environment filled with big time celebrities, athletes and models. Heff would be proud.
Greenhouse currently has two clubs, one at 150 Varick Street in New York and one at 801 Silks Run in Hallandale Beach, Florida. The best part is that both the Manhattan and Florida clubs are “sustainable clubs featuring green design, wind power, water, energy efficient mechanicals and even real leaves.” Greenhouse Manhattan was the first New York nightlife destination to ever seek LEED certification for being green. LEED certification essentially means that everything from building materials and garbage disposal, energy and water usage, has to be regulated and reduced. In Manhattan the walls are made of sustainable bamboo instead of wood and LED lightbulbs that use just one-thirtieth of the energy of regular incandescent bulbs, the space cost 40 percent more to build than a traditional club. Greenhouse Manhattan buys wind power credits worth 100% of its energy needs, and has waterless urinals and low-flow toilets to save an estimated 15,000 gallons annually. Finally, even the uniforms are made by the stylish, eco- and socially responsible Edun, of Bono’s wife (Ali Hewson) fame.
This could be a game changer for the Philly nightlife scene.
