New Center City Hotel Coming to 1200 Arch Street

PlanPhilly reports that a new hotel is coming to Center City Philadelphia. Mayor Nutter, along with people representing Parkway Corporation, and elected officials and the city’s hospitality sector announced the new Center City hotel today at 11am. Mayor Michael Nutter, Joseph Zuritsky, Chairman and CEO of the Parkway Corporation, and Robert Zuritsky, President of the Parkway Corporation made the announcement at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, northwest corner of 12th and Arch Street, 3rd floor outside Room 304. The first announcement was made by Robert Zuritsky, on September 15 when the Parkway CEO announced that his company will be building a new 250-room Hilton hotel at 12th and Arch Streets. The news was delivered at the Hyatt at the Bellevue, where a group of more than 300 commercial real estate agents. The date for the hotel’s opening has not been set yet.

New High End Apartments For Manayunk Neighborhood

PlanPhilly also reports that – An apartment complex almost attached to the Ivy Ridge SEPTA station, near Manayunk, was approved by city agencies this week. The property will be called Umbria Village and the address will be 1 Parker Avenue. Umbria Village obtained zoning variances to bring 168 apartments, 199 parking spots and a clubhouse with pool to a long-unused site between Umbria Street and the Manayunk Canal. The developer J.G. Petrucci plans a low-profile cluster of 15 four-story buildings of one- and two-bedroom units. The apartments will be high end and rent for $1.70 per square foot according to the developer.

University City Top 10 “Hip And Trendy” Neighborhood

Al Heavens reports that NeighborScout, a real estate focused search engine, has deemed our very own University City Neighborhood “Hip and Trendy”. NeighborScout selected 10 such neighborhoods and called Drexel U/Walnut Street came in 10th out of 10. The boundary runs from Market Street along 37th Street to Walnut Street, slicing through the Penn campus and the Annenberg Center to Spruce Street, where it runs along the south side of the street, bisecting the intersection of Spruce, Civic Center Boulevard, and South Street. It then travels the southern edge of South Street, goes halfway across the bridge, drops into the Schuylkill, floats within a few yards of the eastern bank of the river, crosses Market Street, then hugs the side of the bridge at JFK Boulevard.
