PECO Building Flashing “Art In The Air” In Logan Square Neighborhood

Philadelphia Real Estate Blog – PECO “Art In The Air”

The PECO building at 23rd and Market in the Logan Square Neighborhood is known for flashing the time and local temperature but now PECO is displaying local works of art. The “Art In The Air” project is a partnership with Breadboard, a program of the University City Science Center that explores the intersection of art, science and technology. PECO will feature the works of local digital artists each Friday of the month on the iconic building’s Crown Lights. The digital art will be displayed from September to December and new work, chosen by PECO and Breadboard, will be featured each Friday.

The PECO Building is an office highrise in Center City Philadelphia. The building gets its name from PECO (Philadelphia Electric Company), one of the companies that merged to form Exelon Corporation. The building lies adjacent to the Schuylkill River and has the address of 2301 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103.  The PECO Building is notable for its electronic display, which displays the time, temperature, news, and a variety of other community messages in amber-colored scrolling text around the top of the building. At midnight on January 1, 2009 the lights were shut down and replaced with a more energy efficient and more colorful LED-based system which went live on July 4, 2009 (Wikipedia)
