Philadelphia Real Estate Development Temporarily Closes Dog Park

A few different sources are reporting that the 6 million dollar City of Philadelphia project to create a new crosswalk over CSX tracks that separate Center City from the Schuylkill River Banks has been delayed by local dog lovers who feel they weren’t given adequate notice of the closure.

Initial work had already begun and just as the most expensive and difficult part of the project – the construction of a 680-foot pedestrian bridge that will begin in Schuylkill River Park, cross the CSX tracks, and end on the Schuylkill River Trail – was set to begin, Damon K. Roberts and members of Citizens for Saving Schuylkill River Park filed for an injunction to prevent construction from continuing.  This Citizens for Saving Schuylkill River Park claims they were not properly informed of this project and didn’t have a fair opportunity to give input on the finished product.  NakedPhilly.com reports that there, “were two large, well publicized public meetings on this subject that must have escaped their attention. And since they didn’t attend the meetings, they couldn’t have realized that the design being implemented was VOTED ON BY THE COMMUNITY!!!”

Wow.  I Couldn’t have said it any better myself.
