Pop-Up Bar Based on “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” Opens

“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” holds the distinction of being the only major TV show right now to take place in the City of Brotherly Love. How much Philadelphians want to own that fact remains questionable, however, due to the lewd, crude, and rude shenanigans of “The Gang” as the run the fictional Paddy’s Pub on the FXX show. In honor of the Eagles winning the Superbowl, a Chicago bar is opening a pop-up bar of Paddy’s, complete with drinks and food inspired by “Always Sunny” and a giant Eagles’ helmet as the centerpiece to it all.

“It’s crazy nobody in Philadelphia has done it yet,” said Mark Kwiatkowski, owner of the Replay Lincoln Park bar. There is a 2,500-square-foot room off the main bar that Kwiatkowski has used for other themed pop-ups in the past. According to Philly.com: ” Previous pop-ups include Moe’s Tavern from The Simpsons and Blips and Chips, an arcade from Rick and Morty.”

Features of the bar will include an inflatable raft and something called a “rum ham” suspended from the ceiling. In case you haven’t figured it out, I have never seen this show and had to turn to the good judies of Wikipedia to fill me in on the plot and main characters. Also from Philly.com: “Featured drinks will include fight milk, riot punch (served in a 64-ounce milk jug) and the Chardee Mac Dennis IV bag: A double-vodka lemonade served in an IV bag you get to take home — because who else would want to use it? Special shots include the Greenman, the Dayman and the Nightman, which are sure to foster friendship and karate between everyone.”

Having Google’d what Fight Milk is, I am 99.99% sure that the pop-up will not actually serve the version cooked up on the show, and am now super curious as to what actually goes into it. As someone lactose intolerant, the whole idea seems captivating and horrifying in equal proportions.

The “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” pop-up bar will open Friday and will run until March 18th, unless business proves good enough to keep it afloat (see what I did there?) for longer. The next season of the TV show is expected in 2019, at which point it will become TV’s longest-running sitcom in history, tying Ozzie and Harriet with 14 seasons apiece.
