The Sixers' new wine series will commemorate the team's three national titles.

Fans of the Philadelphia 76ers can now toast to their team in a whole new way – with a glass of “Banner Series” Sixers wine. The team has joined with Chaddsford Winery, a local winery that Chad Biggs, Philadelphia 76ers SVP of Corporate Development and Activation, called “a premier brand in the industry and the preeminent winery in the Philadelphia region.” He went on to tell NJ.com that “This is a pivotal time in Sixers history, and we anticipate Sixers and Philadelphia sports fans will be eager to celebrate and toast the exciting season ahead; while giving back to an incredible cause in the Sixers Youth Foundation.”

The Sixers’ new wine series will commemorate the team’s three national titles.

He’s right about it being a pivotal moment in the team’s history. Following an embarrassingly terrible losing season, things are looking up for the Sixers – they scored a great first-round draft pick in Ben Simmons, and also signed Dario Saric. What better way to celebrate than with a series of wines that celebrate the Sixers’ past championship victories? The team’s three wines each commemorate a year (1955, 1967, and 1983) when the team, which was then known as the Syracuse Nationals, won the NBA championship title.

The first wine in the series is out now. It’s an American red-blend wine, “dedicated to the 1983 NBA Championship Sixers team which included icons such as Julius “Dr. J” Irving, World B. Free, Moses Malone, and Maurice “Mo” Cheeks.” Only 76 cases of the limited-edition wine will be produced. Bottles will be available for sale at Chaddsford Winery, at the Wells Fargo Center, and online at the winery’s website.

As mentioned, a portion of the proceeds from wine sales will benefit the Sixers Youth Foundation, which is (as per NJ.com) “committed to providing guidance, encouragement, and support to disadvantaged Philadelphia children so they can develop life skills they need to succeed in both the classroom and on the basketball court.”
