Actor and novelist Steve Martin has listed one of the most unique properties I’ve seen in a while. Make entirely of concrete and looking more like a bunker than a house, the home is definitely not something you see every day. The home is located near Montecito, California, and Martin has resided there for over twenty years. It was designed by Roland E. Coate Jr., a Venice Beach native.

The home’s concrete construction could come across as cold, but it manages to be quite charming.

The home sports four bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms over almost 7,400 square feet. It sits on two parcels of land that total nearly 5.9 acres. There is a detached two bedroom / one bathroom guest house, as well as a separate garage. There’s a heated inground pool in the back, as well as a distinct cylindrical statue that echoes the home’s angular concrete construction. Yes, the home is built almost entirely of concrete, including the walls and floors. Sounds severe, but the home definitely has its own charm. It also carries a big price tag – Martin is looking to get nearly $11 million for the property.

Martin is something of a real estate nut, but he’s slowly been selling off some of his collection of homes. In 2013 he listed a home in the French West Indies. He still owns a pair of homes on side-by-side parcels in Beverly Hills.

Martin shot to fame as an actor, but he’s become known for his writing and singing as well. He has penned both novels and stage plays and he recorded an album with singer/songwriter Edie Brickell last year.
