Jennifer Lopez’s love may not cost a thing, but the same can’t be said about her new home. The actress / singer / American Idol judge / owner of a world-famous derriere has finally wrapped her search for the perfect New York City nest, settling on a two-story unit in a luxe Georgian building across from Madison Square Park.
There are rumors that Lopez is in line to be the next performer tapped for a Las Vegas residency, and if that happens to be the case, the good news is that she’ll have plenty of room to get her groove on. The penthouse is as long as a city block and sports over 6,500 square feet, with four bedrooms and six full bathrooms, plus two powder rooms. In addition, the home boasts over 3,000 square feet of outdoor space spread over the two floors, with a landscaped roof deck, a putting green, and a croquet pitch.
The building was built in 1924 and features amenities like a full-time doorman, a refrigerated room for packages, private storage in the backyard, a gym, and a key-lock elevator with private landings to protect the building’s pampered residents.
Within the home itself is an enormous and beautiful chef’s kitchen, complete with two wine fridges that, combined, can hold over 100 bottles. The living room alone is over 1,300 square feet (hello, house parties!), the hardwood floors are said to be gorgeous, and there’s a fully-integrated home automation system.
Lopez isn’t the first or only celeb to call home the upscale building on East 26th Street – NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon and former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton also reside there.
Lopez’s people are keeping mum on the deets, but the home was last listed for $22.5 million – a drop from its original listing price of $25 million. Congrats and many happy returns to Jenny From the Block!
