Happy Memorial Day, friends!
With the Winter That Wouldn’t End so freshly behind us, it’s pretty easy to rest on our springtime laurels here in Philly. The weather is balmy and fine – minus some anticipated rain this week and, you know, that random training drill by the four horsemen of the apocalypse this past weekend – and life is good. It’s easy to forget that, soon enough, we’ll be complaining just as vigorously about the miseries of summertime. You know what I’m talking about: the sidewalk radiates heat sultry enough to steam your feet through their shoes, the train turns into an enclosed metal sweatbox bound for hell, and the picturesque sidewalks are scented with the delicate fragrance of eau d’trashbin. We’re a hard lot to please!
If you are like me and vastly prefer heat to cold anyway, you understand that there are plenty of good ways to stay chill during the summer. Icy drinks, breezy sundresses… and swimming. In addition to temperature control, swimming is also a fun social activity and great exercise.
