The city’s 2nd-most-expensive listing just took a significant price cut. Sixteen percent sounds modest enough, but what if we told you that amounted to over a million bucks in this case? Craziness.

This ultra-swank manse at 1901 Delancey Place was initially listed last June, hitting the MLS with a cool $8mil pricetag. To be fair, potential buyers are getting a lot of bang for their buck. The home is currently owned by Hank McNeil, philanthropist and heir to the Tylenol fortune. (McNeil just unloaded another Rittenhouse Square behemoth, the McIlhenny Mansion, last April.) It sports 13,000 square feet of living space, five bedrooms, and seven bathrooms, all located in the very best nabe in Center City. There are also two kitchens… you know, all the better for navigating those thorny family dinners. The original listing describes the home as both “intimate” and “stately,” which seems oxymoronic until you realize that, with a home practically huge enough to have its own ZIP code, there’s enough room to have a little of whatever the heck you want. It’s definitely the biggest residential property that the Philly market has seen in a hot minute.

The Delancey mansion was featured in a 2013 WSJ story about homes with traditional exteriors and modern interiors. McNeil was prohibited from altering the townhome’s stunning Georgian Revival brick exterior, but he was able to drastically remodel the inside. It impressively pulls off the neat trick of looking both starkly minimalist and unbearably sumptuous at the same time.
