Holiday Spirit is “Popping Up” in Manayunk
Twinkling lights and mistletoe are not the only things popping up in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia! Two spectacular pop up shops will be opening on Main Street in Manayunk just in time for the holiday season. Beginning Friday, December 7, the pop-up store “A Perfect Gift Shop” will be joining the famous retail corridor. Then, for one weekend only, December 14-16, “Union Stock” will sell their wares to holiday shoppers.
“Union Stock focuses on goods made by local artisans,” says shop owner Christina Smith. “Products will include, reclaimed barnwood furniture, handprinted textiles and pillows, screenprinted baby items, hand illustrated cards and prints, candles, vintage-style marquee lights, handmade jewelry, and more. Over 15 artisans are participating in the shop, including myself, a local printmaker.”
A Perfect Gift Shop owner and operator, Keiwana McKinney is more than excited to open her store in Manayunk. “I am very familiar with the area and have done business with a large amount of the stores and restaurants in Manayunk in the past year,” she said. Keiwana is currently a student at the University of Pennsylvania studying English and has worked in retail and vending before. “I believe I know the typical Manayunk customer very well and I think they will be able to find the perfect gift in my shop.”

These special wares together make the perfect gift for anyone on your list! Stop by Union Stock at 4347 Main St Friday, December 14 for an opening reception from 6p.m. – 8 p.m. and between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. for the remainder of the weekend. A Perfect Gift Shop will be open at 4361 Main St between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m. now until December 28 to fill all of your holiday needs.
Seasonal pop-up shops have become more popular throughout the years after big-name brands like Gucci, Kate Spade, and Louis Vuitton began “popping up” in cities all over the world. These shops will remain in their temporary location for a short period of time, usually one to three months. More recently, stores have come to market pop-up holiday stores for Halloween, Christmas, etc.
