Saw on twitter the other day, via PhillyDeals, that the City Planning commission was having a special meeting to review among other things:
1. A review of Dranoff’sproposed rental properties at Broad & South pictured above.
2. An ongoing battle between the city and the Korman family regarding 93 acres near the Philadelphia Intl Airport in Eastwick. The choices are between airport expansion and potentially 700 new homes.
3. Review of 32 single family houses, with green building aspirations, near the intersection of Front and Callowhill. Good luck matching and replacing all those Belgian blocks on a historically certified street…
4. And the Finnigan’s Wake expansion that Eater Philly talked about last week.
There was also discussions of Temple using LCD signs on Broad Street, Penn getting authorization for pedestrian barriers in between 33rd and 34th Street, and sign control zoning and clean up zoning amendments. But what we really care about are the ones here in our city proper. Dranoff’s takeover of the Avenue of the Arts and his restoration to a once lost important corridor of the city is integral in moving Philadelphia forward. Albeit at the expense of some hideous architecture. The revival of W South Street and tenants on E South Street creeping closer to Broad Street will undoubtedly add some needed buildings here at the NE corner of Broad and South.
This morning it was published that the Finnigan’s Wake expansion was approved so the unofficial entry to Northern Liberties will now officially get a facelift and outdoor decks. Definitely need to get their lawyer team to learn me in their ways of the con. If anyone in their right mind thinks that Finnigan’s intentions are to make 75% of their business catering, we have some wooden nickels you may be interested in as well.
