Over the Memorial Day Weekend you may have missed the opening of the Delaware River waterfront’s first destination backyard beer garden – Morgan’s Pier. Morgan’s Pier is the first of it’s kind in Center City and it seems to have made a big splash already. Word on the street is that the grand opening party last weekend featuring Rich Medina was a huge hit. Going to have to get over there to check it out!
About Morgan’s Pier
Morgan’s Pier can be found steps from the Ben Franklin Bridge. Nestled along the Delaware River in Philadelphia, the Morgan’s Pier outdoor venue has a backyard beer garden feel. The Morgan’s Pier all domestic craft beer bar will showcase a rotating selection of 20 drafts from regional brewers like Dogfish Head, Troegs Brewing Company and more than 20 craft cans. The Morgan’s Pier bar will also offer great summer wines, signature cocktails and a full liquor bar. The stage at Morgan’s Pier will feature a hand-picked cast of international and local DJs curated by Making Time’s Dave Pianka, as well as a free Saturday afternoon concert series booked by R5 Productions. In addition, every Sunday at 3pm, the deck will host the Sundae Open Air Dance Party, presented by Lee Jones. The space is named Morgan’s Pier as a nod to construction worker George C. Morgan who was the first person to cross the span of the Ben Franklin Bridge. Morgan did so by trekking the final 50 feet of the still incomplete foot bridge on a bare support cable 400 feet in the air. He was fired on-the-spot. Situated at the convergence of Philadelphia’s historical district and the Northern Liberties nightlife corridor, Morgan’s Pier is only a few minutes’ walk, ride or drive from some of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods and adjacent to key highways and public transit. Morgan’s Pier will also be available for private events both large and small.
