A new book entitled, “St. Peter’s Church: Faith in Action for 250 Years” was recently published and there will be a book signing on Thursday, Dec. 15, 7-8:30 p.m. at Head House Books, 619 S. 2nd Street in the Queen Village neighborhood. Not really Philadephia Real Estate news. What is really interesting is that one of the authors is none other than Philly Real Estate writer Alan J. Heavens. Here’s a little summary of the book:
“Opening a window onto Philadelphia’s – and the nation’s – history, St Peter’s Church: Faith in Action for 250 Years (Temple University Press) is a glorious testament to this National Historic Landmark. This handsome volume details the stories of Patriots and Tories, Abolitionists and slaveholders, Whigs, Democrats and Republicans as well as the countless immigrants served by St. Peter’s numerous outreach ministries.”
The three Philly authors of the book are Elizabeth S. Browne, Cordelia Frances Biddle, and Alan J. Heavens. The book was edited by Charles P. Peitz. St. Peter’s Church: Faith in Action for 250 Years has over one hundred black-and-white and color images of the church and the Society Hill neighborhood would make a great holiday gift.
