Philadelphia Real Estate Blog: Free Parking in Philly!

Free parking for holiday shopping is back!  The Philadelphia Parking Authority (of Parking Wars fame) has announced that in an attempt to spread holiday joy and encourage shoppers to patronize local merchants during the holiday season, metered parking will be free city wide after 11AM every SATURDAY between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day.  The PPA was quick to clarify that all other non-meter violations are still in full effect.  The PPA is also offering DISCOUNTED parking at some PPA lots that are mentioned below.

The PPA is offering discounted parking every Saturday for $8 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the following Parking Authority parking facilities:

AutoPark @ Olde City(2nd & Sansom) in the Old City neighborhood

AutoPark @ Independence Mall(5th & Market) in the Old City neighborhood

AutoPark @ 8th & Filbert in the Chinatown neighborhood

AutoPark @ the Gallery(10th & Filbert) in the Chinatown neighborhood

AutoPark @ Jefferson(10th & Ludlow) in the Washington Square West neighborhood

AutoPark @ JFK Plaza(underground garage 16th & Parkway) in the Logan Square neighborhood

But don’t get too carried away with your shopping because, “If the patron exits after 5 PM, the regular posted rates will apply.”
