Need groceries in a hurry? Amazon Prime customers can now have Whole Foods grocery orders delivered in as little as one hour.

Love fresh, delicious groceries from Whole Foods, but hate having to haul your cookies to the store? Well, Philadelphia resident, you are in luck. Amazon just recently expanded their Prime grocery delivery service to include Whole Foods, in a move that is sure to delight fans of the high-quality, organic, fair-trade, free-range grocer, which has a cult following.

The Whole Foods delivery is an expansion of Amazon’s Prime Now service, which it piloted in Boston, Baltimore and Richmond, Virginia. Through the program, Prime members can have grocery orders of over $35c delivered for free to their door within two hours. For a mere $7.99 charge, they can have the groceries delivered in just one hour.

According to Philly.com: “Included in the Philadelphia expansion is a swath of the region stretching as far west as West Chester, in Chester County; as far north as Hatfield, in Montgomery County; and as far east as Mount Holly, in Burlington County, Allon Katz, director of Amazon’s Prime Now division, said in an interview Monday.”

Shoppers employed by Amazon will pick up the groceries and deliver the orders in their own vehicles. Shoppers can make special requests about their order, such as specifications about the fresh produce they’d like picked out, or a note about substitutions just in case a certain item is unavailable. Deliveries will be available from 8 in the morning until 10 at night.

Amazon’s original grocery service, Amazon Fresh, will continue to operate. This program is a bit different, because shoppers have to order groceries a day or two in advance and then wait for them to arrive during a two-hour window which is assigned. The Prime Now grocery service through Whole Foods puts Amazon more squarely in competition with apps like Shipt, which also offers grocery deliveries in as little as one hour. Right now Whole Foods is the only store option for Prime Now customers, and it remains unknown whether this will change in the future.
